ENGLISH 3 (Mở thi lại)

I. HÌNH THỨC:

 Sinh viên được thông báo 05 chủ đề lớn trước:

1- GENDER & SOCIETY

2- REPRODUCING LIFE 

3- HUMAN MIGRATION

4- FASCINATING PLANET

5- MAKING A LIVING, MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Với mỗi chủ đề lớn, sinh viên cần tự thu hẹp chủ đề và chuẩn bị trước một bài nói dài khoảng 2 phút về chủ đề đó. 

·      Vào phòng thi sinh viên sẽ trải qua các phần thi sau: 

PHẦN 1 (HỎI - ĐÁP): Phần thi này chiếm 20% tổng điểm bài thi 

Sinh viên sẽ được hỏi một số các câu hỏi liên quan đến những chủ đề thông dụng như gia đình, bạn bè, giải trí,...

PHẦN 2 (TRÌNH BÀY - HỎI ĐÁP SÂU): Phần thi này chiếm 80% tổng điểm bài thi. 

1.     Trình bày (50%):  Sinh viên sẽ trình bày về 1 vấn đề thuộc 1 chủ đề đã bốc thăm từ 5 chủ đề lớn trên trong 2 phút. 

2.     Hỏi – đáp sâu (30%): Sinh viên sẽ được hỏi 3-5 câu hỏi liên quan đến chủ đề vừa trình bày. 

·    Tổng thời gian thi nói: 10-12 phút/ sinh viên

I. HÌNH THỨC:

Sinh viên được thông báo 5 chủ đề lớn trước:

1 - THE WORLD OF WORDS- WRITERS & LITERATURE

2 - FOSSIL FUEL vs. ALTERNATIVE ENERGY 

3 - TRADITIONAL & MODERN MEDICINE

4 - ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS

5 - EMOTION AND PERSONALITY

Vào phòng thi sinh viên sẽ được ghép đôi và trải qua 3 phần thi sau đây: 

Phần 1: SPEAKING WITH TEACHER: mỗi sinh viên sẽ được hỏi một số các câu hỏi liên quan đến những chủ đề thông dụng như mơ ước, kế hoạch trong tương lai, vấn đề khó khăn trong học tập,  trong cuộc sống… (2 điểm)

Phần 2: SPEAKING IN PAIR (HỎI-ĐÁP): Hai sinh viên được ghép cặp sẽ thảo luận với nhau về 1 trong 5 chủ đề đã học trong chương trình sau khi bốc thăm được, dựa trên những câu hỏi gợi ý được cung cấp bởi giáo viên hỏi thi nói. (6 điểm)

Phần 3: SPEAKING WITH TEACHER (HỎI- ĐÁP SÂU): Từng sinh viên sẽ được hỏi 2 -4 câu hỏi liên quan đến chủ đề đã bốc thăm (2 điểm)

Tổng thời gian thi nói: 10-12 phút 1 sinh viên

II. TIÊU CHÍ ĐÁNH GIÁ

·                  Nội dung (Content) :                                                                40%

·                  Độ chính xác (Grammar and pronunciation accuracy):20%

·                  Độ trôi chảy (Fluency):                                                           20%

·                  Phản xạ giao tiếp (Feedback):                                              20%

Guidelines:

Students are entitled to select one topic and prepare in advance to deliver an 10 minute presentation, including feedback and responses in front of the audience. It is compulsory to hand in the outline of your presentation to the examiner on the test day.

 

            Those who are acting as audiences are expected to cooperate with the speakers by paying attention and raising questions to contribute to the success of the presentation.  The cooperation is recognized and rewarded by the examiner.

 

 

Assessment criteria: 

·           Content of the speech (Interesting? Informative? Analytical? Creative? Meaningful?):            30%

·           Structure of the speech (Clear organization? Clear transitional signals?):                              20%

·           Fluency, Pronunciation &Volume (Flowing? Accurate? Clear? Loud?):                                  20%

·           Performance style (Confident? Active? Cheerful? Well-gestured? Eye-contacted?):                  10%

·           Feedback and responses (Smart? Fast? Tactful):                                                                      10%

·           Cooperation - as an audience (Attentive? Enthusiastic? Constructive?):                        10%

Guidelines:

All of the above topics are nominated by the majority of the current E6 students. Candidates are entitled to select one topic and prepare in advance to deliver a 8-10 minute presentation with slides (including feedback and responses) in front of the audience. 

            Those who are acting as audience are expected to cooperate with the speakers by paying attention and raising questions to contribute to the success of the presentation.  The cooperation is recognized and rewarded by the evaluator.

 

 

Assessment criteria:

Test format: GROUP PRESENTATION

Guidelines:

Students are entitled to work in groups (3-4 members), select one topic and prepare in advance to deliver a 20minute presentation, excluding feedback and responses in front of the audience. It is compulsory to hand in the outline of your presentation to the examiner on the test day.

            Those who are acting as audiences are expected to cooperate with the speakers by paying attention and raising questions to contribute to the success of the presentation.  The cooperation is recognized and rewarded by the examiner.

Assessment criteria: 

Group performance: 

·           Content of the speech (theme, outline, messages, ideas, information):                         20%

·           Cooperation: (pre- performance teamwork, unity, equality, mutual support, cohesion)           30%

·           Slide quality (clarity, meaning, simplicity, focus)                                                         10%

 

Individual performance:

·           Expression (word choice, clarity, speed, pauses, voice, intonation, pronunciation                   20%                                          

·           Manner (facial expressions, eye-contact, gestures, movement, rapport with the audiences)    15%

·          Q & A (sharpness, clarity, equality, ability to deal with tricky situations)                                5%

FORMAT FOR SPEAKING TEST E8 

-       DEBATE 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Before the exam, students are allowed to form their own team (team of 3) and are assigned with resolutions and positions. Students are required to prepare beforehand. 
  • During the exam, the positive team and the negative team are grouped by the examiner and have 2 minutes to get ready for the debate.
  • The positive team and the negative team debate against each other within the time frame below.
  • The language required for the debate is formal. 
  • Students must follow the format below. 

DEBATE FORMAT

  • First affirmative constructive speech  - 4 minutes

The first speaker of proposition is responsible for: 

defining the motion

outlining the arguments that proposition will bring (their team’s case)

explaining which speakers will present which of those arguments

presenting the first half of the arguments.  

  • First negative constructive and rebuttal speech - 6 minutes

challenging the definition and providing a new one  (if necessary)

outlining the arguments that proposition will bring (their team’s case)

explaining which speakers will present which of those arguments

responding to the arguments of first proposition  (rebuttal)

presenting the first half of the arguments.  

  • Second affirmative constructive and rebuttal speech  - 6 minutes

offering rebuttal to the other team’s case  

presenting final half of the arguments to support their case. 

  • Second negative constructive and rebuttal speech - 6 minutes

offering rebuttal to the other team’s case  

presenting final half of the arguments to support their case. 

  • Third affirmative rebuttal speech - 6 minutes

responding to the other team

defeating the arguments brought by the other team in detail, whilst also defending the case that their team-mates have brought from the attacks that the other team has already made. 

  • Third negative rebuttal and summary speech - 6 minutes
